Tangut Component 662

What 𘪕 means

Not by itself: it is a component, not a whole character.

Tangut components help scholars describe and analyse complete characters; 𘪕 belongs to that scholarly toolkit, not everyday vocabulary.

Emperor Li Yuanhao ordered the script for state-building, with Buddhist translation a major purpose. Its forms drew on Chinese writing without deriving from it. A manuscript fragment from the ruined city of Khara-Khoto probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century.

Why does 𘪕 show as a box?

A box usually means your font lacks the glyph.

A Tangut-capable font is needed to display it.

Questions people ask

1

Why does 𘪕 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
