What 𗀊 means

“Gather” or “collect”; also “handful” or a counting classifier.

A classifier is a word used with a number to count things. The earliest listed references for 𗀊 are in two Tangut reference works from the 12th century, titled “Sea of Writing” and “Homophones.”

Created around 1036 for the Western Xia state and Tangut language, the script drew on Chinese writing and Khitan state-script traditions but remained distinct. It served Buddhist and secular writing, including Chinese texts, inscriptions, and manuscripts into the Yuan and Ming periods.
