What 𗀉 means

Tangut dictionaries gloss 𗀉 as “ankle” or “heel.”

The Tangut script was created around 1036 to write the Tangut language. Its square characters were influenced by Chinese writing, but it is a distinct script.

An early official document is dated 1072. The script also appeared in Buddhist books and inscriptions after Western Xia fell; the latest known dated Tangut inscriptions are from 1502.
