What 𗁤 means
It means “learning” or “study.”
Li Fanwen’s Tangut dictionary lists it as entry 2990 and uses Chinese 學, meaning “learning” or “study,” as its gloss. 學 is a translation clue, not another form of the Tangut character.
Is 𗁤 a Chinese character?
No. It belongs to the Tangut script, a separate writing system for the Tangut language.
The Western Xia ruler Li Yuanhao ordered the script’s creation in 1036 as part of state-building. Its aims included a Tangut Buddhist canon and a written identity distinct from Song China.
Tangut design was inspired by Chinese writing visually and compositionally, but the script remained distinct. Surviving books also carried Confucian, military, encyclopedic, and literary works, so this character’s dictionary meaning does not become religious just because it appears in a Buddhist text.
Historical and specialist; it points to Tangut texts or character study.
Outside a Tangut text, its intended meaning may not be clear.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗁤 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
