What 𗁬 means
It means “clean” or “spotless” in Tangut.
Scholars transcribe its reading as sy in Latin script; that notation marks the reading, not the meaning.
Wén Hǎi, a Tangut dictionary organized by rhyme, dates to the mid-12th century. It lists 𗁬 as a head character, the sign that organizes an entry. Tangut was used for official and cultural writing in Western Xia.
Is 𗁬 Chinese?
No. It is a Tangut character.
Tangut's component-built script may resemble Chinese writing, but the systems are distinct and mutually unreadable; knowing Chinese does not tell you how to read 𗁬.
Historical and specialist; a gloss helps readers who do not read Tangut.
If your reader cannot read Tangut, add a gloss; the shape alone will not explain “clean.”

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗁬 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
