What 𗃉 means
Western Xia was a Tangut kingdom in what is now northwestern China. Its script borrowed the structure of Chinese characters to write Tangut, not Chinese.
In 1036, ruler Li Yuanhao commissioned his minister Yeli Renrong to design the script for official and cultural life, asserting a distinct Tangut identity. After the state fell in 1227, Buddhist writing continued; a stone inscription from 1502 is a late surviving example.
