What 𗃺 means
A verb for expelling air from the stomach.
Emperor Li Yuanhao ordered Tangut writing in 1036 to build Western Xia identity and support its Buddhist canon. Its design drew on Chinese writing without deriving from it. Khitan neighbors had made two scripts about a century earlier; one was based largely on Chinese writing.
Tangut books included Buddhist scripture, classics, encyclopedias, military writing and literature. An undated manuscript from Khara-Khoto, a ruined city in Inner Mongolia, probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century.
