What 𗅭 means
Its Unicode name is an identifier, not a translation. The English entry lists reconstructed readings (scholars' estimates of its historical sound) and compounds, but no settled English gloss (as of 2026).
Is 𗅭 a Chinese character?
No. 𗅭 belongs to Tangut. Tangut drew on Chinese character design and developed alongside Khitan. Commissioned in 1036 for the Western Xia state's government and cultural work, it was used for Buddhist texts, translations from Chinese and Tibetan, and secular writing. A Khara-Khoto manuscript fragment probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century.
Historical and scholarly.
Chinese influence does not make this Tangut glyph a Chinese character.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗅭 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
