What 𗌌 means

Its dictionary gloss is “deep.”

The Western Xia state introduced Tangut writing around 1036 to build its identity and produce Buddhist scriptures in Tangut.

Manuscripts found at the Khara-Khoto site, from the 12th or early 13th century, include Tangut translations of Buddhist, Confucian, military and literary works. Tangut texts survive after 1227, when the state fell. The script drew on Chinese writing and developed alongside Khitan writing, another script, but remains distinct.

A historical character for Tangut texts.

Chinese-inspired does not mean Chinese.
