What 𗍴 means
A historical measurement word. The dictionary glosses it as a unit of measurement; as of 2026, it gives no modern equivalent. Its exact sense depends on the surrounding Tangut text.
Tangut script was created around 1036 for Western Xia state-building, including production of a Buddhist canon, a collection of sacred Buddhist works. It also carried official, religious, literary, and translated Chinese texts.
Why does 𗍴 look different?
Historical forms can differ across fonts and sources. Tangut records preserve variant glyph shapes; Unicode treats forms as one character when they are not contrastive in a source tradition. A change in drawing alone does not prove a different Tangut word.
Historical and specialist; in ordinary chat it reads as an obscure glyph, not familiar shorthand.
Do not treat it as a universal measuring icon; its unit sense depends on Tangut context.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗍴 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
