What 𗎺 means

A seated figure. A Tangut–Chinese dictionary glosses 𗎺 as “a figure of sitting”; the Unicode chart maps it to entry 4038.

Why was Tangut writing created?

For a state and its language. Emperor Li Yuanhao ordered Tangut writing in 1036. One likely aim was to translate Buddhist scriptures into Tangut; another was to distinguish Tangut identity from the Song dynasty in China.

Its forms drew on Chinese writing without deriving from it. Tangut makers followed neighboring Khitan peoples, who had created two scripts roughly a century earlier. Tangut writing carried Buddhist works and translations from Chinese or Tibetan, plus texts first composed in Tangut.

Why does 𗎺 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
