What 𗐛 means
The Tangut dictionary gloss is “to sew.” In Li Fanwen’s dictionary of Tangut, it appears as entry 4933 with that verb meaning.
Tangut writing was created in 1036 under Li Yuanhao, ruler of Xixia (Western Xia), to support the state and a planned Tangut collection of Buddhist scriptures. Its forms drew on Chinese characters and the earlier script of the neighboring Khitan state, but it records Tangut, not Chinese. Surviving texts include Buddhist works, law codes, Confucian writings, military treatises, and literature. A manuscript from Khara-khoto, a ruined site in Inner Mongolia, probably dates from the 12th or early 13th century.
Why does 𗐛 look different or show as a box?
Tangut fonts can draw or support it differently. Unicode’s reference glyph is not a required design, so fonts may render 𗐛 with different shapes. If the font has no Tangut glyph, the character may appear as a box or blank space.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗐛 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
