tangut ideograph-17490

Tangut character 17490

1169/6136

𗒐 is used for “receive” in a Tangut Buddhist verse. Created around 1036 under Western Xia emperor Li Yuanhao, the script gave the state a writing system of its own and helped translate Buddhist scriptures; later it carried nonreligious works and continued into the Yuan and Ming dynasties. It drew visual inspiration from Chinese writing, while its creation followed the neighboring Khitans’ earlier state scripts.

Why does 𗒐 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
