What 𗒑 means
A Tangut dictionary associates it with transliteration.
The L4940 Tangut entry in Li Fanwen’s English index appears under “a transliteration”: a written character used to represent a sound. This classifies a dictionary entry; it does not give 𗒑 an everyday chat meaning.
Traditional histories date the Tangut script’s design to 1036. The Western Xia state used it in government and schools, official documents, Buddhist translations, and block-printed books. Tangut writing continued after Western Xia fell in 1227; one later example is a Buddhist inscription dated 1502.
Specialist and archival; it signals interest in Tangut writing, not casual chat.
Without a Tangut-capable font, a recipient may see a box or fallback glyph.

Questions people ask
2Is 𗒑 an emoji?
No. As of 2026, it has no emoji presentation; it is text in the Tangut script.
Why does 𗒑 need a Tangut font?
Any font containing the Tangut glyph can display it; the font need not be named for Tangut. Older fonts that put Tangut in legacy Chinese, Japanese, or Korean mappings, and pages that mix incompatible fonts, can display it inconsistently.
