What 𗒚 means
It marks a sound in Tangut writing, rather than naming an object.
A Tangut dictionary labels this entry “a transliteration”: a way to write a word or name from another language using its sounds. Tangut characters may resemble Chinese ones, but they belong to a separate writing system for another language; 𗒚 is not a Chinese character.
The Western Xia court commissioned Tangut script in 1036 to support state-building, including Buddhist texts in Tangut. After Western Xia fell in 1227, Tangut texts continued beyond the dynasty, especially Buddhist material.
