What 𗒰 means
It is a Tangut character glossed as “lonely.”
Li Fanwen’s Tangut dictionary glosses 𗒰 as “lonely.” Tangut writing was created in the 11th century under Li Yuanhao, the first emperor of Western Xia, to support state-building. Its aims included translating Buddhist scriptures into Tangut and giving the state a written identity distinct from Song China. A manuscript from the Khara-Khoto ruins in Inner Mongolia, probably from the 12th or early 13th century, preserves a translated historical text.
Tangut writing borrowed the broad visual and compositional approach of Chinese writing, but it was a separate script for the Tangut language. Earlier Khitan scripts in the region show that Tangut belonged to a wider period of state script-making. Tangut texts include religious, official, private, literary, and translated works. The script remained in use under the Yuan and Ming dynasties, then became obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.
What if someone sends 𗒰 alone?
Read it as a Tangut word before a confession.
The gloss “lonely” gives the character’s lexical sense, not the sender’s intention. Check whether the conversation is about Tangut words, a manuscript, or font rendering; without that context, do not infer that the sender feels lonely.
Historical and specialist: Tangut learners may recognize the gloss, while other readers need message context.
“Lonely” is the dictionary gloss, not proof of a confession.
