What 𗔗 means
Its dictionary gloss is “to fight.” Li Fanwen’s Tangut dictionary lists it as entry 4916; a scholarly reconstruction gives its reading, conventionally written ghwe.
The script’s earliest documented setting is 11th-century Western Xia. It served government and Buddhist translation while marking a distinct cultural identity; it followed Chinese writing principles without being a Chinese script.
The glyph appears in historical Tangut texts; dictionaries and digital references preserve its entry for study.
A historical Tangut word encountered mainly in specialist reference and study.
