Tangut character 𗕿

1408/6136

𗕿 is a Tangut character commonly used for the Chinese character 慈 (“compassion” or “kindness”) in Buddhist texts; that contextual gloss does not give its Tangut pronunciation. Tangut writing was modeled on Chinese forms but encoded a different language.

Why does 𗕿 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
