What 𗖯 means
The catalog files it as a transliteration. Unicode maps 𗖯 to Li Fanwen entry 0898, which the English index places under “a transliteration.” That category describes the kind of entry, not a direct gloss for the glyph.
Tangut was the writing system of the Tangut language in Western Xia (Xixia). Emperor Li Yuanhao ordered it for state-building and a Buddhist canon. Its forms drew on Chinese writing without deriving from it; Tangut rulers also followed neighboring Khitan script-making, begun about a century earlier. Surviving Tangut texts include Buddhist works and translations from Chinese and Tibetan.
