It means “home” or “house.” A translated Tangut verse begins with 𗗌 in a line rendered “inside the home, dogs guard.”
The 12th-century Wénhǎi (“Sea of Writing”) is a Tangut rhyming dictionary.
Tangut writing served Western Xia government and Buddhist translation; surviving works include official, religious, and secular texts.
Is 𗗌 Chinese writing?
No. It belongs to a distinct Tangut script. Tangut borrowed Chinese character design and, like the earlier Khitan script, served as a state writing system. Use it in digital text for Tangut history or script study.
