What 𗚠 means
It is glossed as “pottery” in Tangut.
Tangut was the language of the Western Xia (Xixia) state, which established its writing system in 1036. Traditional histories credit senior official Yeli Renrong with designing it. The state used Tangut script for administration, bilingual diplomacy, and Buddhist translations. The script outlasted the dynasty: Buddhist dharani pillars—stone columns bearing ritual texts—dated 1502 are among its late surviving uses.
why does 𗚠 look like Chinese?
Chinese writing influenced its square design, but Tangut is a separate script.
Tangut characters pack dense strokes into square forms. If 𗚠 appears as a blank box, your font lacks Tangut coverage. Use a Tangut font for 𗚠.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗚠 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
