What 𗛼 means
𗛼 means fence or hedge in Tangut. The Tangut dictionary index by Li Fanwen pairs it with Chinese 籬, a fence of bamboo or branches. Scholars reconstruct its reading in specialist notation as twər¹.
Tangut writing began around 1036 as the state script of Western Xia (Xixia), a Tangut-led kingdom. It marked Tangut independence and served official, private, and Buddhist texts. It continued under later dynasties after the kingdom fell in 1227; the latest dated remnant is from 1502.
Historical and specialist; this is a Tangut text character, not emoji artwork.
𗛼 is Tangut, not Chinese; do not infer its reading from its shape.
