What 𗝄 means
In Tangut, it means pain or an ache.
A Tangut dictionary pairs it with the Chinese equivalent 疼.
The Tangut script was created around 1036 for state-building under Li Yuanhao, emperor of Western Xia; one major aim was a Tangut Buddhist canon, a collection of Buddhist scriptures. Chinese writing influenced Tangut's visual forms and character-building principles, but Tangut did not derive from it; the neighboring Khitan had created their own scripts before Tangut writing appeared. A manuscript fragment found among the ruins of Khara-khoto in Inner Mongolia probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century. It translates a Chinese text, showing Tangut writing at work beyond Buddhist and state use.
