What 𗞐 means
The dictionary gloss is “a surname.”
Li Fanwen’s Tangut–Chinese dictionary, a reference work matching Tangut characters with Chinese, indexes 𗞐 under the gloss “a surname.” That short label cannot identify a person or translate a full line by itself.
Why was Tangut writing created?
It supported the Western Xia state’s government and scholarship.
Commissioned around 1036 under Western Xia (Xixia) ruler Li Yuanhao, Tangut served official records, diplomacy, literature, and Buddhist scripture translation. The earliest surviving Tangut document is dated 1072. The script drew on Chinese writing and followed earlier neighboring Khitan scripts while remaining distinct. It continued in Yuan and Ming texts after Western Xia fell, then became obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.
Historical and scholarly; this character appears in the study of Tangut writing.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗞐 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
