What 𗠸 means
Its dictionary gloss is “to extol”: praising someone or something in elevated terms.
An English index to Li Fanwen’s Tangut dictionary gives that gloss. The Tangut script was created in the Western Xia state during the eleventh century for state records and translations. The earliest transmitted Tangut document identified in modern scholarship is an official message to a military inspector in 1072. Writing continued after Western Xia fell in 1227; a Tangut inscription is documented from 1502. These dates trace the script’s lifespan, not this character’s first known use.
What if someone sends 𗠸 to me?
Read it as a Tangut dictionary word, not automatically as a personal compliment.
A Tangut reader may recognize the verb “to extol”; someone who does not read Tangut needs the surrounding text or the sender’s explanation. The glyph’s dictionary gloss does not say whom the praise targets. Ask what the sender means before taking it as praise of you.
Is 𗠸 an emoji?
No. 𗠸 is a Tangut text character.
Its shape comes from the font used for Tangut text. A font without Tangut coverage may show a missing-glyph box; that reflects missing font support, not a different character.
Its gloss is elevated praise, so it reads more like a dictionary verb than a standalone reaction.
Do not assume the sender is praising you; the glyph gives no target.

Questions people ask
1Can I guess 𗠸’s meaning from its parts?
No. In Tangut writing, parts of a character may hint at meaning or sound, and the same part does not have one fixed value. Knowing which parts make up 𗠸 explains its structure, not its translation.
