What 𗡩 means

Li Fanwen’s 2008 Tangut dictionary glosses it as “grey.”

It is a word in Tangut, Western Xia’s language, not a color icon or emoji reaction.

Is 𗡩 Chinese or Tangut?

It is Tangut, in a separate Chinese-inspired script.

Li Yuanhao, Western Xia’s ruler, introduced the script in 1036 to distinguish the state and translate Buddhist scriptures. It also carried Chinese classics and secular books. Khitan rulers had created scripts about a century earlier; Tangut took Chinese design without descending from Chinese writing.

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
