What 𗣎 means
A Tangut word for “human being” or “person.”
Scholars reconstruct its historical pronunciation; it is not a Chinese reading. Western Xia commissioned Tangut writing in 1036 to build the state and compile Buddhist scriptures.
A Tangut manuscript fragment from Khara-Khoto’s ruins, an abandoned settlement, is undated but probably from the 12th or early 13th century. Tangut drew on Chinese character-making and the earlier Khitan state script, yet wrote a separate language. Buddhist texts continued after Western Xia fell; surviving works also include secular writing.
Historical and scholarly, not casual chat.
Its Chinese-inspired shape does not make it a Chinese character.
