What 𗥈 means
Its short dictionary gloss is “benefit.” Li Fanwen’s Tangut–Chinese dictionary gives that English equivalent for the entry mapped to 𗥈.
Tangut writing was created in 1036 under Western Xia ruler Li Yuanhao. It served state-building, supported a Tangut Buddhist canon, and marked a state identity distinct from Song China. Scholars identify a transmitted Tangut document dated 1072 as the earliest known example.
The script became a working written tradition for Buddhist scripture, official and secular translations, Confucian works, encyclopedias, military treatises, and literature. Western Xia fell in 1227; an inscription dated 1502 shows the script was still used afterward.
Why does 𗥈 look Chinese?
Its Chinese-inspired design belongs to a separate script. Tangut writing drew on Chinese characters’ visual style and composition, but did not derive from Chinese. Tangut rulers also followed Khitan neighbors who had developed scripts earlier; that is a connection between writing policies, not evidence that 𗥈 matches a particular Khitan sign.
The visible pieces are Tangut structural components, not separate meaning-bearing parts, so they should not be translated one by one.
Historical and specialist; it fits discussion of Tangut writing, Western Xia history, or font support.

The selected font may not contain a Tangut glyph. The character can still be present in the text; a blank box is a font-coverage problem, not a different reading.
