What 𗧡 means
It is a verb for beating or throbbing. A Tangut–Chinese dictionary, which explains Tangut words with Chinese glosses, renders it “to palpitate.”
Created around 1036 for the Western Xia state, Tangut writing supported government, Tangut identity, and Buddhist translation. The earliest surviving example is an official document from 1072. Its system uses principles also found in Chinese writing; possible influence from Khitan, another historical script, remains debated. After Western Xia fell, Tangut continued in Buddhist and scholarly texts.
Historical and scholarly; its word meaning depends on reading Tangut.
