What 𗩚 means
Its gloss is “put/place/set.” The reconstructed reading is du¹; one Chinese gloss is 置.
During the 11th century, Tangut writing served official and cultural life in Western Xia (Xixia). It drew on Chinese character forms but remained a separate script. The Sea of Characters was a Tangut dictionary from the 12th century.
A 2024 sutra comparison calls one 𗩚 a copying error for 𗪋 (“go”); the revision uses 𗣲 instead. It is a passage-specific correction.

1Questions people ask
1Why does 𗩚 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.

𗩚\17A5AWhy is 𗩚 a box on my screen?
fsymbols draws rare signs with its own fonts, so they show here even where your device has none. An app or website without such a font shows an empty box (□) or a question mark instead. Turn our fonts off to see each sign as your device draws it by itself: a box here means a box in your chats and documents too.
