What 𗪨 means
“Tangut Ideograph-17AA8” is a label, not the Tangut word. A Tangut dictionary or translated passage gives this character’s pronunciation and meaning; its Chinese-like shape alone does not.
Created around 1036 for the Western Xia state under its first emperor, Tangut writing served Buddhist scripture, secular translations, official texts, inscriptions, and manuscripts. Its design drew on Chinese writing and followed neighboring Khitan scripts, another regional writing tradition. It remained in use under Yuan and Ming rule, becoming obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.

1Why does 𗪨 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
