What 𗫍 means
Its documented place-name use gives a contextual reading.
In Tangut, 𗫍 is the first character in the place-name form 𗫍𗉔 for Chinese Shizhou (石州), “Stone Prefecture.” That gloss belongs to the full name; it does not prove a standalone English translation for 𗫍.
The Tangut script was created in the 11th century under Western Xia rule. Ruler Li Yuanhao ordered a state writing system, and Yeli Renrong helped edit and promulgate it. The earliest transmitted Tangut document is dated 1072; an inscription dated 1502 shows the script remained in use after Western Xia fell to the Mongols. Tangut writing served state records and teaching, and carried translations of Buddhist and Chinese works. Scholars compare its design with earlier Khitan traditions, but that does not prove direct descent. These dates trace the script's history, not 𗫍's first appearance.
How do I type Tangut 𗫍?
Use a Tangut-specific input method. Ordinary modern-language keyboards are not a dependable source for this character. Tangut input tools offer stroke codes if you know its written form and a phonetic route if you know a reconstructed reading.
If 𗫍 appears as a square or blank, the font lacks Tangut support. Choose a Tangut font; the display failure does not change the encoded character.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗫍 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
