tangut ideograph-17add

Tangut character 17ADD

2782/6136

𗫝 is a Tangut character, not an emoji or Chinese character. Its number-based label identifies the character; it does not translate it. The Tangut script was created around 1036 for the Western Xia state and language, drawing on Chinese character forms and neighboring Khitan scripts. It served state writing and Buddhist translation; surviving texts also include Chinese classics, encyclopedias, military works and literature.

Why does 𗫝 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
