What 𗭠 means
It writes a borrowed title by sound, not by translation. The gloss “khan” gives the title it represents. In a transliteration, one script writes a word from another language by sound.
The Tangut script, also called the Xixia script, was created under the first emperor of the Western Xia state around 1036 to write the Tangut language. Tangut records include official, private, and religious works such as books, sutras (religious texts), inscriptions, and manuscripts.
After Western Xia fell to the Mongols in 1227, Tangut writing continued through the Yuan and Ming dynasties. The script became obsolete by the end of the Ming dynasty.
Historical and specialist: it fits discussion of the Tangut language, Western Xia, or Tangut manuscripts.
Tangut vs Chinese: the blocky form resembles Chinese Han characters, but Tangut is a separate, unrelated script.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗭠 show as a box?
Font coverage is the likely cause: Tangut needs a font that includes this glyph. A missing-glyph box changes its display, not the character itself.
