What 𗮶 means
It names the spleen in Tangut.
The Western Xia state promulgated Tangut writing in 1036 for government correspondence and Buddhist texts. A translation committee formed in 1038 to translate Buddhist sutras; surviving Tangut books also include Chinese classics, law, military works, and literature.
Tangut writing drew visual and structural inspiration from Chinese writing. The Western Xia court also followed the Khitan example of giving a state its own script. A surviving handwritten Tangut manuscript, dated to the 12th or early 13th century, shows the book culture in which Tangut writing was used.
How to type 𗮶
Use a Unicode-aware input method or a code-point escape. In an HTML document, write 𗮶. In JavaScript, use \u{17BB6} in a string; in Python, use \U00017BB6.
The font must also contain a Tangut glyph. If you see an empty square, the selected font cannot display the character; different stroke styles can come from different fonts.
Historical and scholarly; its documented lexical meaning is a specific Tangut word for an organ.
Do not infer a Chinese reading from its shape; this is Tangut.
