Tangut Character 17BEA

3051/6136

𗯪 is a character in the Tangut script, used for the Tangut language of Western Xia (Xixia). Ordered in 1036 by ruler Li Yuanhao, the script drew on Chinese writing and earlier Khitan scripts to support state identity and probably Buddhist translations. After the 13th-century Mongol conquest, Tangut fell out of daily use, though its texts survive.

What 𗯪 means

Read it as Tangut writing, not a chat reaction.

In the Tangut reference book Homonyms, composed after 1188, 𗯪 heads a group in a sound-based character list. This marks its place in that guide, not a plain English word gloss. If it arrives alone, check context or ask the sender.
