tangut ideograph-17c4d

Tangut character

3150/6136

𗱍 is a character in the Tangut script, but its reading and meaning remain uncertain. The script was created under Western Xia’s first emperor about 1036 for government records and Buddhist translations. It continued after the state fell in 1227; the last known example dates to 1502. Its shapes were influenced by Chinese writing but write the Tangut language; a font with Tangut support may be needed to display it.

Why does 𗱍 show as a box on some devices?

Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
