𗱩 is a Tangut word glossed “to obstruct.”
Tangut writing was put into use around 1036 for the Western Xia state and its official writing and translations, including Buddhist works. Western Xia is also known as Xixia. Its square forms drew on Chinese writing but recorded the Tangut language.
Khitan rulers in a neighboring state developed their own writing system around 920, before Tangut writing was put into use. The character appears at position 48.242 in the 12th-century Wénhǎi, a Tangut rhyme dictionary.
