What 𗱾 means
It names dew in Tangut.
Tangut was the language written in this script. The square form can resemble Chinese characters, but it represents a Tangut word; its shape alone does not explain the meaning.
By itself in a message, it is best read as a sample of Tangut writing or a lookup, not as a universal weather signal.
How old is the Tangut script?
The script was created for the Western Xia state.
Tangut writing was created under imperial decree in 1036 for Western Xia’s official and cultural life. It recorded the Tangut language in administrative texts and Buddhist translations from Chinese and Tibetan; 𗱾 is one word-sign in that larger system.
Tangut writing continued after Western Xia fell in 1227; the latest known dated example is from 1502. Unicode encoded 𗱾 in 2016, long after its historical use. A Tangut radical index files it under 𘢸 (index 185.13), a structural link, not a shared meaning.
Historical and scholarly; it points to Tangut writing.
Its square form can look Chinese; the word it writes is Tangut.
