What 𗲈 means
𗲈 means “jade,” especially a flat disc with a hole.
Tangut is a language with its own script, distinct from Chinese; 𗲈 is written in it. Created around 1036 for Western Xia, the script served government and Buddhist writing.
Chinese 玉 is a translation counterpart, not this Tangut glyph. Glossaries record “jade rabbit” and “jade flower”; scholars differ on whether the compounds were borrowed from Chinese or translated into Tangut.
Historical and specialist; its meaning depends on Tangut context.
