What 𗲉 means
It means “new” in the Tangut language. It belongs to Tangut writing, not Chinese writing; the character represents a Tangut word.
Tangut script was created around 1036 under Western Xia’s first emperor to support the state, Buddhist texts, and a distinct identity alongside Song China. It followed state-writing projects by the neighboring Khitan people, but was not derived from Chinese. Tangut writing appeared in Buddhist, official, and secular works, continued after the kingdom fell, and became obsolete by the end of the Ming period.
