What 𗳞 means
To beg. This dictionary gloss needs a sentence for its grammatical role; the character alone is not a stand-alone “please.”
Why was Tangut writing created?
For the Western Xia state and Buddhist texts. Li Yuanhao ordered Tangut writing in 1036 for state-building. It followed Khitan models and Chinese composition principles, but was not derived from Chinese.
A Tangut manuscript of Chinese anecdotes found at ruined Khara-khoto probably dates to the 12th or early 13th century. Tangut books include Buddhist texts and law codes. Wenhai, a Tangut rhyming dictionary, lists 𗳞 at 11.271.
Why is 𗳞 a box?
The font lacks Tangut support. A blank or box means the glyph is unavailable in that font.
Historical and specialist; it points to Tangut or Western Xia texts.
A dictionary gloss is not a stand-alone “please.”

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗳞 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
