What 𗳼 means

The gloss is “to fall”; *gjeiu is an inferred Tangut reading. The asterisk marks it as a scholarly reconstruction.

The Tangut script was introduced in 1036 under Emperor Li Yuanhao, ruler of the Tangut state, to support state-building and a written culture distinct from the neighboring Song dynasty in China. It drew on Chinese writing without simply copying it and developed in a region where Khitan scripts were also used. Tangut writers used it for Buddhist translations and secular works translated from Chinese.

Historical and specialist: its reading belongs in Tangut-language texts and discussion of them.

Why does 𗳼 appear as a box?

Your font may lack a Tangut glyph for 𗳼, so the app may show a missing-character box. That box is a fallback mark, not part of the character.
