What 𗴷 means
It means “maternal aunt.”
Li Fanwen’s 2008 Tangut–Chinese Dictionary gives that gloss for entry 0004: your mother’s sister.
The Tangut script was created around 1036 for the Tangut language, shortly before Western Xia formed in 1038. Its forms drew on Chinese structure and basic strokes, but it wrote a different language. It served government and culture, including Buddhist translations, legal texts, dictionaries, and literature. Some writing continued after the Mongol conquest in 1227, with evidence of use as late as 1502. The Pearl in the Palm, a bilingual Tangut–Chinese glossary, helps scholars study the language. If you send 𗴷 outside a Tangut text, add its gloss.
Why is 𗴷 a box?
Your device may lack a Tangut-capable font.
U17D37 is the character’s exact Unicode identifier; the input method must preserve it, and the font must include Tangut glyphs. A box or blank is a missing-glyph display, not another word.
It is a specific Tangut family term; the surrounding message supplies any extra tone.
A blank or box is a font failure, not a clue to another meaning.
