What 𗷠 means
Thunder. The Tangut dictionary entry L2008-0157 glosses 𗷠 as “thunder.”
Li Yuanhao ordered the Tangut script in 1036 for the Tangut language, as part of building Western Xia’s state identity; it likely also served plans to translate Buddhist scriptures. Tangut followed the neighboring Khitan’s earlier script-making and borrowed design ideas from Chinese writing, but did not descend from Chinese. Tangut texts included Buddhist and Confucian works, law codes, and Chinese translations; the latest known inscription dates to 1502.
Historical and specialized: it belongs to the written Tangut tradition.
Chinese design influence does not make 𗷠 a Chinese character.
