tangut ideograph-17de8

Tangut character

3561/6136

𗷨 is a Tangut character used for the Western Xia state's language. By 1036, the court had ordered the script for government and cultural life; it drew on Chinese character forms, while neighboring Khitan and Jurchen peoples developed their own scripts in the medieval period. Tangut writing carried Buddhist translations and Chinese classics; the 1345 Juyong Pass inscription shows the script outlasted Western Xia, which fell in 1227.

Why does 𗷨 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
