The text field must accept Unicode, and the selected font must include Tangut. If 𗸁 appears as an empty box, the font lacks coverage.

What does 𗸁 mean?

A Tangut dictionary glosses it as “firm.”

The character is catalogued as L2008-1800. That gloss is a clue, not a translation for every sentence; its meaning depends on its place in Tangut text.

Why does 𗸁 look like Chinese writing?

Tangut is a separate script made to write the Tangut language.

Tangut writing was developed around 1036 under Western Xia’s first emperor, to write Tangut and support the state’s cultural identity. The earliest transmitted example cited by modern scholarship is an official document from 1072.

Tangut writing continued after the Mongol conquest in 1227; an inscription dated 1502 is later surviving evidence. Scholars compare the construction of Tangut, Khitan, and Jurchen scripts, but that script-level comparison does not identify 𗸁 as an alternate form or descendant of a particular character in another script.

This is a historical Tangut character, at home in textual study; in an ordinary message it reads as an unfamiliar script sample.

The gloss “firm” cannot tell you what a whole Tangut sentence means.

Why does 𗸁 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
