What 𗹍 means
Its dictionary gloss is “an official title.” In plain terms, it names a government post or rank.
The Tangut script was devised in 1036 under Tangut emperor Li Yuanhao as part of building the Western Xia state. A Tangut edition of the Buddhist canon was likely a central aim, alongside the court’s effort to distinguish its identity from Song China.
The neighboring Khitan people had created scripts of their own, and their example influenced the Tangut court. Tangut writing was visually and structurally inspired by Chinese writing but did not descend from it.
Treat its official-title sense as historical Tangut vocabulary, not as a stand-alone authority symbol.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗹍 show as a box on some devices?
Not every system ships a font for the Tangut block. Where none is installed, the character shows as an empty box; adding a font such as Noto fixes it. The character itself is still correct and copies correctly.
