tangut ideograph-17e58

Tangut character 17E58

3673/6136

𗹘 is a Tangut character: a sign in the writing system of the Tangut language and Western Xia kingdom. Read it in Tangut text, not as a chat reaction. Created in 1036 for state records and translations of Buddhist and Chinese works, the script drew on Chinese-character traditions; Khitan influence has also been proposed. The oldest surviving example is an official document from 1072; a 1502 inscription shows later use.

Why does 𗹘 show as a box on some devices?

Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
