What 𗺳 means
A Tangut dictionary glosses 𗺳 as a kind of waterweed. Readers unfamiliar with Tangut need the gloss to identify the plant.
Created under Western Xia's first emperor, Li Yuanhao, around 1036, Tangut writing served state purposes and Buddhist texts. It drew on Chinese writing's visual and structural principles but remained distinct. After Western Xia, it appeared in official, private, and religious works; a Khara-khoto manuscript, probably from the 12th or early 13th century, preserves prose, moral anecdotes, and dialogue.
Scholarly or archival in feel; in casual chat, add a brief explanation.

Questions people ask
1Why does 𗺳 show as a box on some devices?
Because that device's fonts have no glyph for it. The character is still correct and still copies correctly — the box is a missing glyph, not a broken character.
